Johnstown, PA, October 14, 2005—U.S. Representative John P. Murtha, (D-Johnstown) and Daniel R. DeVos, President and Chief Executive Officer of Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC), today announced that CTC has been awarded a five-year contract from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) to operate the Navy Metalworking Center, formerly known as the National Center for Excellence in Metalworking Technology (NCEMT). The Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract, awarded as a result of a competitive solicitation, is worth up to $150 million. CTC has operated the NCEMT since 1988.

Representative Murtha commented, "This competitive award once again reinforces CTC's reputation as a national leader in providing critical technologies and services in support of our fighting men and women around the world. This new contract will assure the retention of over 100 professional/technical jobs in the Johnstown region over the next five years."

Mr. DeVos pointed out, "This contract is especially significant in that the NCEMT was CTC's very first contract. This award enables us to continue our 17-year history of addressing defense-related manufacturing technology requirements and further develop CTC's advanced metalworking capabilities."

The Navy Metalworking Center will continue to develop and implement advanced metalworking solutions for key naval weapon systems, such as CVN-21, the 21st Century aircraft carrier; DD(X), the next-generation destroyer; the Joint-Unmanned Aircraft System; the Littoral Combat Ship, the new family of focus mission ships; and the M777 Lightweight Howitzer.

This Center, which is administered by ONR's Manufacturing Technology (ManTech) Program, serves as the focal point for the development and transition of advanced metalworking technologies, materials and processes. According to Dr. Daniel L. Winterscheidt, CTC's Program Director for the Center, "The primary goal of the Navy Metalworking Center is to transition advanced metalworking technologies to naval weapon systems. CTC is well positioned to continue leading the development and implementation of these critical technologies." He also stated that "The new, succinct name of the Center reinforces ManTech's emphasis on lean, efficient operations and the continued focus on practical metalworking solutions and applications."
