June 21, 2007
Johnstown, PA, June 21, 2007—Daniel R. DeVos, President & CEO of Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) today announced receipt of simultaneous registration to the International Organization for Standardization’s Quality Management System Standard – ISO 9001:2000, and the Environmental Management System Standard – ISO 14001:2004 for CTC’s Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri office.
The ISO certifications establish CTC as the only Fort Leonard Wood contractor to hold such certifications at the local level. This provides CTC a decided edge over other firms competing for contracts in support of the U.S. Army Maneuver Support Center (MANSCEN). The MANSCEN mission is to provide the nation with combat-ready, values-based men, women, leaders, and teams who are trained in basic combat skills as well as chemical, engineer, military police, and transportation disciplines who are prepared for success in any operational environment, and to develop and integrate concepts, doctrine, training, force structure, and materiel requirements to support the force and ensure the vitality of the chemical, engineer, and military police regiments.
“The dual ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications demonstrate CTC’s commitment to quality and the environment, which leads to improved contract performance, lower operating costs, reduced energy consumption, and reduced waste,” DeVos stated. “The certifications will specifically enhance CTC’s support to force protection; non-lethal systems, including policy development and mobile training team operations; military working dogs; and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear programs. We also anticipate increased opportunities in the areas of combat developments, modeling and simulations, and chemical-biological defense-related activities.”
Companies seeking ISO registration must meet a rigorous set of requirements and successfully complete a comprehensive review by an independent, accredited registrar. CTC’s registrar was SGS International Certification Services, Inc. headquartered in Rutherford, New Jersey. SGS is accredited in the U.S. by the Registrar Accreditation Board, which is affiliated with the American National Standards Institute.
“The preparation for this challenging certification was tedious, but rewarding,” stated W. Roger Gunter, CTC’s Executive Director, Asymmetrical Threat Technologies. “The entire CTC team worked diligently to ensure that all aspects of Quality Management and Environmental Management became part of their daily activities. Continuous improvement was and will continue to serve as a foundation for the work performed by CTC’s Fort Leonard Wood office. We’ve always delivered quality products and services, as confirmed by our clients’ testimonies. The only change now is that we can say that we are officially certified in both ISO Standards—Quality Management and Environmental Management—and that these certifications will only enhance our commitment to our clients.”
In 1998, CTC became one of the first North American companies and first nonprofit organization to achieve concurrent registration to both the ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 standards for its Johnstown, Pennsylvania location. Additional CTC sites that have since achieved this concurrent registration include Annapolis Junction, Maryland; Largo, Florida; Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Charleston, South Carolina; and Bremerton, Washington. Representative of CTC’s continuous pursuit of quality certifications to enhance its performance, the company’s Johnstown site also achieved registration to AS9100:2004/ISO 9001:2000 in April 2005, and was assessed at Maturity Level 3 of the Capability Maturity Model Integration for Systems Engineering and Software Engineering (CMMI®-SE/SW), Version 1.1, for systems and software engineering activities in March 2003.
