December 19, 2008
Johnstown, PA, December 19, 2008 – Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) has been named a winner of the Defense Logistics 2008 Technology Implementation of the Year Award for a new technology application developed for the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) to help improve decision support. The Total Life Cycle Management Common Operating Picture (TLCM-COP) application provides a common view of weapons systems and equipment status, enabling USMC senior leadership to make decisions efficiently and effectively using the same information as program managers and the fleet.
According to Defense Logistics, award winners are widely recognized within the government and defense industry for “exemplifying the best in current initiatives and setting new standards of excellence.” The goal of the awards ceremony, which was held December 3, 2008, is to recognize people and/or organizations for their tremendous contributions in support of the Department of Defense (DoD) and its ultimate end-user, the U.S. warfighter.
Edward J. Sheehan, Jr., CTC President, said: “One of our clients, the Marine Corps Logistics Command, nominated CTC for this prestigious national award, which makes it all the more meaningful to our organization. This award acknowledges our client’s satisfaction with our work as well as our significant contribution to military logistics on behalf of U.S. warfighters.”
In nominating the company, Sheehan said that the Marine Corps Logistics Command wrote that CTC is “staffed by a robust mix of Marine Corps logistics, supply, maintenance, and leadership expertise” and that “CTC has been a key logistics transformation agent across various Marine Corps and DoD logistics initiatives.”
Michael Knapp, CTC General Manager, Integrated Solutions, explained that TLCM-COP is a new module to the Marine Corps Logistics Commands’ Life Cycle Modeling Integrator (LCMI) Program, which includes the Marine Corps Equipment Readiness Information Tool (MERIT), a multi-award winning tool previously developed by CTC. “MERIT has resulted in a significant savings of time and money for the USMC,” Knapp said. “Its success and our employees’ exceptional support of the Marine Corps has resulted in considerable add-on work for CTC, such as TLCM-COP. CTC is the lead developer, integrator, and maintainer of the TLCM-COP initiative, and I am proud of each member of the team whose expertise and dedication to the task culminated in this national recognition.”
Accepting the award on behalf of CTC was Philip Pauley, LCMI Program Manager; Michelle Burkey, TLCM-COP Project Manager; Mary Hiles, TLCM-COP Technical Lead; and Major David Clark, Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC).
