Johnstown-area companies will have some share in a five-year contract with the Army worth up to $175 million.
MTS Technologies Inc. of Johnstown has announced the omnibus contract that also involves Concurrent Technologies Corp. of Richland Township, Allen Corporation of America and BearingPoint.
Specifics of what work will be performed in Johnstown, when, and if any new jobs will be created are unknown at this point.
Barton W. Whitman of MTS’ Arlington, Va., offices said the pact is task-oriented. He said it could involve jobs running weeks to years, with the actual work still undecided, and maybe a dozen jobs here, a 100 jobs there.
It could involve, for example, logistics support, engineering or information technology development.
“It’s not ‘Build this system,’ ” Whitman said.
The contract will support the Army’s Warren, Mich.-based Executive Office for Combat Support & Combat Service Support. MTS is the prime contractor.
“Our team, comprised of four leading defense contractors, combines the agility of small business with the strong, diverse outreach of big business,” said MTS Division Manager Rick Wyrembelski.
