The National Research Council-Canada's Institute for Fuel Cell Innovation (NRC-IFCI) and Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC), will hold an international workshop on "Achieving Cleaner Distributed Power Generation in Remote Locations," March 10–11, 2008, in Vancouver, British Columbia (BC), Canada.
The workshop will be conducted jointly by Dr. Yoga Yogendran, Director, Technology Deployment and Commercialization, NRC-IFCI (National Research Council - Institute for Fuel Cell Innovation), and CTC's Dr. Cheng-Guan Michael Quah, Executive Director, Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Strategic Initiatives. Workshop participants will explore remote community needs, challenges and opportunities in supplying power and energy through the use of distributed generation and microgrids.
The workshop will engage participants in a dialogue around issues and challenges of powering remote communities as well as exploring opportunities to work with remote communities to develop and deploy clean energy distributed power systems. The speakers will be from the governments of Canada and the United States, military and provincial authorities, electric utilities, technology suppliers, academia, and the communities. Among the confirmed speakers are:
