Concurrent Technologies Corporation’s (CTC’s) Edward J. Sheehan, Jr., has been appointed a member of the Pennsylvania State Board of Education. Mr. Sheehan is one of 12 people who were unanimously confirmed by the State Senate to the Board of Education, after being nominated by Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell. Mr. Sheehan is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of CTC.
Announcing Mr. Sheehan’s appointment, Governor Rendell stated: “Recently I nominated you for appointment as a member of the State Board of Education. I take great pleasure in advising you that the Senate confirmed your appointment on April 1, 2008. Please accept my best wishes for your dedicated service to the Commonwealth.”
Mr. Sheehan took the Pennsylvania Constitutional Oath of Office on April 14, 2008. He was sworn in as a state official by Margaret L. (Peggy) Cavanaugh, Notary Public, Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, and a CTC employee.
The State Board of Education is the principal administrative regulatory body for elementary/secondary and higher education in Pennsylvania. The Board provides insight into the quality of State education and sets policy in regard
to curriculum development and how to better prepare students for the future. The mission of the Pennsylvania Department of Education is to assist the General Assembly, the Governor, the Secretary of Education, and Pennsylvania educators in providing for the maintenance and support

State Board meets six times each year in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Sheehan is extensively involved in regional and statewide initiatives associated with economic development and education, as well as industry alliances and a variety of charitable endeavors. He is Immediate Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Mount Aloysius College, Cresson, Pennsylvania, an accredited, coeducational, private college with approximately 1,500 students operated by the Religious Sisters of Mercy. Mr. Sheehan also previously served as Chairman of the Board of the United Way of Pennsylvania and presently serves as Vice Chair of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry.
