Description of Invention
This is a design for polymeric golf shoe spikes to improve traction on a variety of turf conditions.

Technology Synopsis
The new design of polymer golf spikes addresses inadequacies of current plastic replaceable sport shoe spikes currently on the market by providing:

  1. Improved distribution of weight on the shoe surface.
  2. Improved traction on various turf conditions.
  3. More durable than current spikes.
  4. More comfortable than current spikes.

Patent Protection
Two U.S. Patents have been issued: D440,750 on April 24, 2001 and D438,369 on March 6, 2001. For a copy of the patent abstracts, go to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office website, www.uspto.gov, click on "SEARCH," and enter one of the above patent numbers.

Potential Commercial Applications

  • Sports shoes that utilize polymeric, replaceable spikes.
  • Any turf shoes that utilize replaceable spikes that screw into sole of shoe. (D440,750 on April 24, 2001).

Status of Invention
The CTC polymeric shoe spikes have been completely developed including multi-cavity plastic injection mold. Licensee would have access to the technical capabilities of CTC, on a fee basis, including rapid prototyping, metallurgy, and advanced design techniques.
