Johnstown, PA November 20, 2019

As of October 2019, Concurrent Technologies Corporation serves as a sitting member of an American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) Technical Advisory Group. The ASSP Technical Advisory Group is a member of the U.S. seat to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 283 on Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management. The ISO Technical Committee consists of more than 75 countries across six continents.

The ISO Technical Committee 283 works to standardize OH&S management, enabling organizations to control OH&S risks and improve OH&S performance. Currently, the Technical Committee is responsible for the on-going development of the new ISO 45001 standard, Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, and other supporting guidance and standards.

Supporting guidance and standards currently under development by the committee include:
• ISO 45001 Implementation Handbook for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses
• ISO 45002, General Guidelines for the Implementation of ISO 45001:2018
• ISO 45003, Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace — Guidelines

The ISO 45001 standard aligns with other ISO management standards, such as ISO 9001, Quality Management Systems; ISO 14001, Environmental Management Systems; and ISO 31000, Risk Management.

Brandon Hody, CTC Safety and Occupational Health Professional, serves as CTC’s primary representative to the Technical Advisory Group; and Lori Schorth, CTC Senior Safety and Environmental Professional, serves as the alternate. Hody and Schroth serve as subject matter experts, assisting with the review and approval of draft guidance and standards developed and published by ISO Technical Committee 283

Hody’s and Schroth’s efforts place CTC in a position to contribute to the overall advancement of OH&S management for the future, as well as demonstrate CTC’s capabilities in the OH&S field and operation of the DoD Safety Management Center of Excellence (SMCX).
