Concurrent Technologies Corporation’s Erica (Lynn) Porta provides expertise in multiple sessions
A Concurrent Technologies Corporation Energy and Climate Analyst participated in a major international event designed to tackle the global water crisis and ensure a water-secure future. Erica (Lynn) Porta contributed her expertise in several forums at the UN 2023 Water Conference at UN headquarters in New York City, which was attended by 10,000 people in person and online.
Porta participated in two high-level roundtable side events as a guest speaker and expert. The Global Water Security Center invited Porta for her insights on how water security data and information communication can be reshaped for improved general understanding and awareness. Additionally, Porta spoke at a Water Environment Federation-moderated event hosted by cBrain and the Danish Consulate in New York City on digitizing water data and processes to improve governance and policy. Porta also spoke as a critical stakeholder during the Interactive Dialogue on Water for Transboundary Cooperation.
“The events I participated in at UN Water Conference recognized the important role water has in flowing through multiple areas of our society as a critical, limited, non-replaceable resource. This is the same approach to water that CTC takes when supporting our clients,” said Porta. “Water as a threat-multiplier permeates the resiliency and readiness policies we need to have a long-term view on.”
Porta attended UN 2023 Water Conference as a representative of her work at the intersections of long-term resilience and readiness policy with water resources security. Outside of CTC, Porta volunteers as the Co-President of the North American Youth Parliament for Water and brought the long-term planning perspective of a young professional to her participation in multiple side events and official sessions of the conference. Water as the central element of multiple “nexus” approaches to global challenges was a common theme of the Conference.
