Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) is pleased to announce that Kathy West, Manager of Enterprise IT, has been named First Runner Up in the prestigious 2024 NHL Stick Tap for Service™ Award. This accolade highlights the exceptional contributions of hockey fans and military members to their communities.

As the First Runner Up, Kathy will receive a $10,000 donation to the charity that she is involved with, GearUp4Kidz, which provides free hockey equipment and an eight-week training program to children in need.

“GearUp4Kidz is a community project created as part of the Cambria Regional Chamber’s John B. Gunter Community Leadership Initiative,” West said. “One of the special things about this program is that it’s geared toward students aged 10 to 15, which many people might think is too late to start hockey. But it’s never too late to take advantage of all that organized hockey programs can provide; I didn’t start playing hockey until I was 42!”

Kathy’s journey to this recognition is as inspiring as her contributions. Born and raised in South Korea, she moved to the United States with her husband, now a retired military serviceman. Embracing her new community, Kathy dedicated herself to making a positive impact, particularly through her involvement with GearUp4Kidz, a nonprofit organization based in Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

CTC's Matt Bender, Senior Safety Occupational Health Professional, also collaborates with GearUp4Kidz, further underscoring our employees’ dedication to community service and support for such valuable initiatives.

"Being recognized by the NHL is an incredible honor," West said. "I am deeply committed to GearUp4Kidz and the work we do to support our local children. This donation will help us reach even more kids, providing them with opportunities to learn and grow through hockey."
