Marine Corps Facility Recognizes Contributions of CTC’s DoD Safety Management Center of Excellence

Johnstown, PA April 02, 2018

By John Sinosky III, CTC Safety Programs Director

The Winter 2018 edition of the Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association (VPPPA) magazine, The Leader, contains an article about the journey of Marine Corps Air Facility (MCAF) Quantico earning their Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Voluntary Protections Program (VPP) Star in July 2017.

The article references the significant contribution of the Department of Defense (DoD) Safety Management Center of Excellence (SMCX), operated by Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC), in their pursuit of this world-class safety management system recognition.

SMCX personnel provided remote technical support to MCAF Quantico beginning in 2014 and completed a series of onsite assessments to evaluate the site’s progress and evolution of their VPP implementation. The final visit, an Application Readiness Assessment in March 2017, included several SMCX recommendations for the final few areas MCAF Quantico to improve before their onsite evaluation by OSHA in June 2017, which they passed with flying colors. Congratulations to all involved at MCAF Quantico!

Through the SMCX, CTC supports the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (OUSD) Personnel and Readiness (P&R) Personnel Risk Reduction (PRR) goal to help as many DoD sites as possible achieve Safety Management System recognition, such as OSHA VPP Star status.
